The Perpetual Voyage

I dream of a lost abandoned place,
Ah! That evanescent paradise,
The fervent wind takes an eager pace,
My naive heart frets of velvet vice.

Ah! That evanescent paradise,
The road leads me to a vintage town,
My naive heart frets of velvet vice,
Alluring caricatures in brown.

The road leads me to a vintage town,
Frayed memories remind me to stay,
Alluring caricatures in brown,
My voyage blends me to float away

Frayed memories remind me to stay,
The fervent wind takes an eager pace,
My voyage blends me to float away,
I dream of a lost abandoned place.

This poem has been written using the pantoum rhyme scheme which is composed of a series of quatrains. Here the second and fourth lines of each stanza are repeated as the first and third lines of the next stanza. The pattern continues for any number of stanzas, except for the final stanza, which differs in the repeating pattern. The first and third lines of the last stanza are the second and fourth of the second last stanza; the first line of the poem is the last line of the final stanza, and the third line of the first stanza is the second of the final. Ideally, the meaning of lines shifts when they are repeated although the words remain exactly the same: this can be done by shifting punctuation. Also, sometimes the number of syllables used in each line is maintained. I have used 9 syllables per line in this one.
