Floating Melody

Midway on a vacation spree he looked into my eyes
Dancing to velvet symphony playing in reprise
Hues of azure twilight through swaying maple tree
He looked into my eyes midway on a vacation spree

Bathed in honeyed mist drizzled whispers wrapped me
Lavender primrose petals caressed the golden blue sea
Parched sand dunes held ripples in oasis to be kissed
Drizzled whispers wrapped me, bathed in honeyed mist

We floated through greenwood embraced by mystic haze
Wet twigs preserved our footprints of secrets ablaze
Fluffy clouds spiraled lucid drops on cuckoo's hood
Embraced by mystic haze, we floated through greenwood

Aromatic petrichor our repose, sprinkled with flaming muse
I paused the melody of his existence to let it fuse
Into the crevices of my heart cruising in those meadows
Sprinkled with flaming muse, aromatic petrichor our repose

*This poem has been written using the swap quatrain poetry form which was created by Lorraine M. Kanter. It consists of rhyming stanzas of four lines each. In this form the first line is reversed or swapped in the fourth line by rearranging the words in the first line of each stanza to make another sentence in the fourth line. Lines 1 and 2 rhyme with each other while lines 3 and 4 form a rhyming pair. The rhyme pattern is: aabb, ccdd, eeff, gghh. The rhythm that this form produces is musical.*
